She talks about her own recovery from anorexia nervosa in her teens; her thoughts on French women and slenderness; eating disorders in men; wellness culture and the many myths around nutrition. I have three children – one girl and two boys. I have done my utmost to be a good role-model by living my truth with intuitive eating and modelling good self-esteem and body acceptance. However, to a 14 year old girl (my lovely daughter) – of course, Mum’s opinions or behaviours are not her prime concern right now. Her friends are dieting and she's bonding with them in doing this. She is finding her own path and separating (as she should be) from me and forging an identity. But, how do I deal with this in a healthy way? Carolina talks to schools, church groups and other organisations about mental health, eating disorders, body image, trauma and depression. In this episode, Carolina openly shares her journey in struggling with an eating disorder for 15 years and how she eventually overcame this.
Carolina talks about her early family life; sadly being put on a diet at the age of nine years old and then becoming aware of a family bereavement that rocked her worth to the core. She goes onto to talk about her recovery journey, with the ups and downs of trying to access support, to finally finding genuine food freedom. This is a wonderful story of inspiration and hope.
